Awards and Recognition
Outstanding effort and achievement by students are recognized at the end of each reporting period and at our awards ceremony at the end of the year. Awards are presented for academic achievement in core and option courses, effort, citizenship, and outstanding performance. These awards are a part of Ottewells’ rich tradition and history.
Major awards include:
Myrna Andruko Outstanding Leadership Award
Presented to the grade nine student who has demonstrated dynamic leadership at Ottewell
Mike Bulat Memorial Award
Presented to the grade nine student who has made an outstanding contribution to Ottewell School
Jane Klaray Memorial Award
Presented to the most improved Grade 9 student
Outstanding Citizenship Award (Grades 7,8,9)
Presented to students who best exemplify the qualities of outstanding citizens
E. Mercer Memorial Award
Awarded for excellence in Mathematics
David Finkleman Memorial Award
Presented for excellence in Drama

Deborah Pennyfeather Student Director Award
Awarded to students who demonstrate hidden talent and leadership in drama and extracurricular productions
Academic term awards include:
Merit Standing Award
This award is presented to students who have achieved an overall average of 74.5 to 79.4.
Honours Standing Award
This award is presented to students who have achieved an overall average of 79.5 to 89.4.
Honours with Distinction
This award is presented to students who have achieved an overall average of 89.5 to 100 with no mark below 75.
