Ottewell School Awards

Myrna Andruko Outstanding Leadership Award (Grade 9)

This award will be presented to the grade nine student who had demonstrated dynamic leadership at Ottewell. He or she is an outstanding school citizen in academics and extracurricular activities. This student must demonstrate initiative, be influential, be able to teach or lead by example and be an effective team member.


Mike Bulat Memorial Award (Grade 9)

This award will be presented to the grade nine student who has made an outstanding contribution to Ottewell School. This student is one who sets high personal goals for success at school and strives to achieve them. This award recognizes attitude and effort combined with natural ability, high interest and initiative applied to a variety of extra curricular and academic pursuits.


Jane Klaray Memorial Award

This award is presented to the most improved grade 9 student. The award winner must have shown significant gains in his/her overall average for the entire school year, and must have shown consistency or notable improvement in attitude, deportment and attendance. Participation in extracurricular activities is also taken into consideration.


Outstanding Citizenship Award (Grades 7,8,9)

This award will be presented to students and best exemplify the qualities of outstanding citizenship. Criteria for this award includes participation in school activities, demonstration of leadership qualities, deportment and conduct, academic performance, and rapport with other students and staff.


Athletic Awards

This award is presented to the students who demonstrate excellent leadership and sportsmanship skills in their respective Physical Education classes, and on the interschool athletic teams. The recipients of this award have been on at least two inter-school teams and have demonstrated a high degree of ability combined with excellent leadership and sportsmanship skills.


Outstanding Female and Male Athletic Awards

In addition to demonstrating excellent leadership and sportsmanship skills in their respective Physical Education classes and on interschool athletic teams, these students are also noted for their unconditional determination, selflessness, dedication to excellence and the desire to represent Ottewell athletes in the best possible manner at all times.


Citizenship

This award is being presented to students who best exemplify the qualities of outstanding citizenship through their participation in school activities, demonstration of leadership qualities, deportment and conduct, academic performance and rapport with students and staff. These citizens of Ottewell are the students who create an atmosphere in our school that makes Ottewell a great place to be and to learn.


Most Improved Student

This award is presented to one student at each grade level who has demonstrated the greatest gain in his/her overall average.


Merit Standing Award

This award is presented to students who have achieved an overall average of 74.5 to 79.4.


Honours Standing Award

This award is presented to students who have achieved an overall average of 79.5 to 84.4.


Honours in Excellence

This award is presented to students who have achieved an overall average of 84.5 to 89.4 with no mark below 75.


Honours with Distinction

This award is presented to students who have achieved an overall average of 89.5 to 100 with no mark below 75.
